Jessica: Okemos Senior Session
It's that time of year... Almost time to go back to school for another year. And every year at this time senior sessions are in full swing. I don't typically do Senior sessions as I am mainly a maternity and Newborn photographer, but occasionally from time to time I will do them for friends or long time clients. This year I think I only have two senior sessions to do. The first one being of the gorgeous Miss Jessica, who is a Senior this year at Okemos High School, Okemos, MI.

I was pretty excited to do Jessica's senior photos for a couple reasons. Senior girls are always fun to photograph. I remember getting my senior photos taken (yes, I can still remember that long ago.. I'm not that old yet) and it's fun to kind of relive that through the girls I photograph. Also because Jessica wanted something a little different than her peers who would all be getting their senior photos taken in and around the Okemos area. Jessica's dad owns some property in Gladwin and it just so happens that the majority of my extended family lives in Gladwin. So I went up to visit my grandma and spend some time with family during the day and then in the evening Jessica, her dad, and myself went out bahhaing through the country roads of Gladwin.
We met at my Aunts house so we could get the all important (and ever so boring) yearbook photos out of the way first. Then we went to a fairly secluded area to get a couple of shots just for dad. Jessica was raised by a single dad and the last professional photo they had taken was when Jess was just a tiny tot. Her dad came to me about a year ago to see about getting some photos of the two of them done, but we could never set up a session due to hectic schedules, so when her senior photo session came up of course we had to grab one of the two of them.

Next up, an amish hey field...because everyone in Okemos knows what hay is, but typically we only have round and square bales in lower central Michigan. So we tracked down some local amish and asked them if it was ok if we used their hay field for some photos. Jess was forced to stay in the car while her dad spoke with the Amish lumberman at the house adjacent to the field... with all the leg she was showing, we were certain to be shunned if she was seen.

Then we headed into town for some traditional senior photos at a local park. But before heading back out to my aunts to drop me off we stopped at an Amish Bake sale and bought some yummy goodies to keep our rumbling bellies at bay.

We stopped at a church and got a few more photos before returning to my Aunt's house. When we arrived we used her back yard for a few more shots before my uncle comes running out and wants to know if she wants to use an old ford tractor in her photos. She giggled a bit, and said she didn't care... pretty sure she was just agreeing to appease this strange man. HAHAHA. BUT... I think they turned out awesome!

It was so much fun hanging out with Jess and her dad and getting some great potos of her. She is going to have a difficult time deciding... I know she will because I even had a hard time deciding. I have only shared 10 here in this post and there are more than 40 to chose from!
In all seriousness, Jess I hope you love your photos and I hope you have a fantastic last year of High School. Best wishes to you as you complete this year and decide what is next for your life.
